Tips for Making Your Mental Health a Priority

Here are some tips to make your mental health a priority. You need to make sure your mental health is a priority. It has been a struggle for all of us in 2020 and we cannot wait till 2020 to end. When you click on the news, all you hear is doom and gloom. Amount of people getting COVID or social injustices happening throughout the US. We must remember just like the financial crisis in 2007 and 2008 this too will pass. Our mental health is very important during this time. 

All the anxiety, stress, problems all over is magnified in the US. It is basically the perfect storm, election year in the US, and Social media firestorm. In todays world, all problems is advertised on social media and shared with everyone. However, to keep your mental health in check, sometimes you just needs to turn things off. Take a break from all the news. Here are some tips on improving your mental health.

Tip# 1   Take a Break

 As I mentioned earlier, take a break.  Your mind can also be exhausted too from watching all the negative news. You need to take a break for a week and stop watching news including social media. As we all know on Facebook or twitter we have friends that just love to deliver all the news. We just need to take a break from it all.

Tip#2   Exercise

Exercise and do some cardio. When you exercise and get your heart beat running, your body naturally produces endorphins. 

Tip#3   Get Enough Sleep

Get some sleep. Try to get at least 8 hours of sleep. It is important to get a good night rest well sleep. Best way is to get some sleep is to make sure your room is completely dark. Avoid drinking alcohol, although it may help you sleep at first, you eventually wake up once the alcohol wears off. Avoid coffee in the afternoon or  having to exercise too late in the evening, especially just before bed time.

Tip#4  Spending Time with Family and Friends

Spend  quality time with your partner or friends. Having someone to talk to or enjoy company of others will help you go through tough times. It is important to laugh, love, and have fun!

Tip #5  Seek Professional Help

If you feel still too stressed or anxious it would be a good time to see professional help. It is important to spend time with someone who can guide you along your journey. This could be the best gift you give yourself.
